After eating, they all settled in their rooms. Daniyal was leaving the bathroom and heard Officer Miller's voice in one of the bedrooms. He stopped to peep in and saw him sitting back on the bed, all of the children surrounding him as he read a book to them. Even his older son seemed mesmerized by the story as he read it. He felt a spark of jealousy as he listened to this gentle man read to his sisters and his own children. He felt the urge to run in and jump on the bed to listen, too, but he shook it off.

He went into the room that Salim had shown him. There were two beds, so he prepared one bed for his sisters and one for himself. He prayed to Allah swt and laid back on the bed and was just going to wait on them to come, but he fell into a deep sleep. He began to dream about his dad and mom when life was so much simpler. He dreamed that they were on vacation and having a great time. The weird part about the dream was that the twins were there. He loved his baby sisters even though he hated their dad. He slept without awakening until Fajr when Officer Miller called out his name. He jumped up, thinking something was wrong, but Officer Miller calmed him down, explaining that the news was good. His mom was awake and doing much better. They were about to take the respirator off and see how she does.

"I need to be there,"Daniyal got up and started getting ready to leave. He told him that he would take him over there, but the girls could stay there with his mother. His mother always watched his children when he worked or went anywhere. She reassured Daniyal that the girls would be okay. He did not argue, but was anxious to get to the hospital.

When they arrived at the hospital, Daniel ran ahead of Officer Miller to where his mother was. She was propped up and even smiling a little when he entered the room. She still did not have very much color in her face, but he was just glad to see her. "I am sorry I scared you, son," She said, weakly.

He fell into her arms, but was careful at the same time. She had one hand in between them to keep him from hurting her. He noticed it and backed away. She told him that she was okay, but made him sit on the side of the bed to talk to her.

Officer Miller arrived shortly after he did. She thanked him over and over again for his kindness. Daniyal could tell his mother was still not in good shape and it worried him that she might be there for a long time. He remembered how unfriendly that Doctor Joe was. He was afraid someone would not treat his mother well. He whispered to her, asking her if they had treated her well. She stared hard at him, wondering why he was acting this way.

"That is rude to whisper,"She informed. "You know it is. Now, apologize to Officer Miller, please."

"It's Yahya, mam," He said, softly.
Well, thank-you, Mr.Yahyal," She made a face at Daniel, waiting for his apology. He had a very bitter look on his face. "Daniyal! I said I want you to tell Mr Yahya you are sorry."

"I am sorry,"He finally said. "Mom, can I get you anything?"

"No, I am okay,"She reassured. "Daniyal, I know you had a scare, but that does not mean that you forget your manners. MrYahyal has been very kind to us. I hear the girls are having a ball with his daughter and his mother, as well." She turned to Officer Yahya Miller. "Tell your mother thank-you for me, please."

"Yes-mam," He smiled. "Daniyal did not eat any breakfast this morning. He was anxious to get here. I thought maybe I would run down and get him something." Daniyal told him no thank-you, but his mother insisted that he eat and he could see how weak she was, so he did not argue with her. She told him to go with Yahya and eat. She ordered him, sternly, to obey and be polite. The nurse had come in to give her some medicine and told her she needed to rest.

Daniyal and Yahya went down to the cafeteria and sat down. Yahyal asked him what he wanted, but he said he did not know. Yahya asked him what he liked and went from there. Yahya tried to talk to Daniyal, but he was very silent. He finally finished his meal and got up. He told Daniyal he would meet him out in the hall when he was done. He told him if they missed each other he would meet him in his mother's room.

Yahya made his way down the hallway. He entered the Masjid and prayed two rakahs then he raised his hands and began to pray. "Oh Allah The Most Merciful, please forgive me if there is any sin in my life that might hinder this prayer. Oh, Allah, please change this boy's heart. He is a good boy but he has been hurt so much. Help him to love again and bless his life with many blessings. Help me to be here for him and know what to say. I am not worthy to be his friend, but please give me a chance to be worthy. Please heal his mother and give her the strength she needs to raise her children. Guide her heart and her life. , Lord, help me to be a good example so that I will show your love , Bless my family and keep us all safe. Thank-you for our many blessings. , Ameen."

Yahya did not know that Daniyal had followed him. He never once suspected that he was listening to his prayer. Daniyal wondered why this man cared so much. He had never met anyone like him. He wanted to run up to him and hug him, but he did not. He wanted to be angry right now. He tried to fight his bitter feelings, but he could not do it. He quietly slipped away to his mother's room. She was sleeping when he arrived, so he sat in one of the chairs and waited for Mr Miller to come.

When Yahya entered the room, Daniyal stared hard at him. It made Yahya feel uncomfortable, but he hid it well, pretending everything was normal. He smiled at him and sat in the other chair. Yahya was very tired. Daniyal did not know why. He assumed he had slept all night just like he had, but little did he know that Yahya had a secret, something that he tried very hard to keep from Daniyal. It was a secret that he had prayed about .

Dr. Brooks had informed Dr. Sims that Sara was to be taken over to County in a couple of days when she was stronger. He was angry, but he knew there was not much he could do. He made sure he made it clear that she was to be ready in two days to leave. Dr. Sims knew that she would not be physically ready by then, so he took Yahya aside and told him. They both were very concerned.

He made his rounds and returned to Sara's room. She was not doing real well. She had developed an infection. Dr. Sims was worried about having to transport her in a day or two. He feared that the worst would happen. Daniyal had fallen asleep in the chair. He did not realize that his mother was worse. She was breathing very shallow and they had to put her back on oxygen. She was being given antibiotics through her I.V. And Officer Miller had returned after being called. He had went home to play with his children for a while. Now, as he stood over Sara, he said a silent prayer.

As weeks passed, Sara grew stronger. Daniyal changed his attitude and began to enjoy his stay at Officer Miller's house. She was to leave the hospital in two days. Daniyal was about to get in Officer Miller's car to go to the hospital when a car pulled up. He was surprised to see his mother getting out of the car. He ran to her and hugged her, gently. "Mom, what are you doing here?"

"I am fine," She insisted. "We have got to move on. I have got to find a job and ...."

"Find a job?" Officer Miller almost shouted. "Ms Sara, you still have a long way from recovery. You need to rest and take it easy for a while."

"I have rested all I need to," She said, seriously. "We have imposed on these good people long enough. I have got to find a job somewhere. There just is not one here for me."

Yahya tried to tell Sara that she was not ready to work. He kept insisting on her staying at his house, but she was stubborn. Daniyal knew the reason too, She told Yahya she could never stay at a non mahrams house . She said she was going to pray for everyone and try to pay him back He told her that she owed him nothing . He had enjoyed having the kids and wanted her to enjoy his ranch house, too. "Allah has been good to me, Sara, I feel led to help you and I loved doing it. Please listen...."

"No, Yahya, if I am going to get away from Ahmed , I have got to move on," She stared hard at Daniyal. The girls ran out to greet her and she was so happy to see them. She kissed them over and over and tried to sit in the car and hold them, but it was too uncomfortable for now. They seemed to know that it hurt her, so they gladly stood by her side and held her hands. She told Daniyal to load up their stuff and get everyone ready. Yahya did understand why she was so avid about leaving so quickly. He stood there, thinking.

"You have already done enough," She choked back tears. "Daniyal, take the girls inside for a minute." She wanted to talk to him alone. As soon as they were inside, she began to explain. "He must have seen something in the paper. He came looking for me at the hospital, but the wonderful staff knew something was not right. They told him I was at County hospital. He must have argued with them, but they insisted that I was transferred there because I had no insurance. Those people are so awesome."

"Sara, I am a cop," He half-way smiled. "I can keep all of you safe. I want to."

Sara would not listen. She told him that Ahmed was into some bad stuff, gang stuff. She did not know he was in so much trouble.

"Sara, I am not really suppose to tell you anything," He stated. "But, it is necessary to tell you now. I did not find you accidentally. I am really a detective. I was posing as a uniform cop. I have been investigating Ahmed for a long time, even before you met him. He is a lot slicker than he appears. He has several aliases. It is a long story, but we have got to make sure you are safe. He thinks you know more. He thinks that is one reason you fled."

Sara sat back down, slowly, but with a small thud. She cringed because it hurt, but sat there shaking her head and trying to take everything in. Yahya told her enough to make her more frightened than before. She was afraid she would be putting his family in danger. He reassured her that Ahmed did not know where she or the kids were.

Both man and woman did not know Daniyal had heard their conversation. Daniyal, shaking with anger ran out and slammed the door. ‘Who was that? ‘ asked Sara surprised. ’I shall go and check’ said Yahya getting up. He went outside and heard a sobbing noise from his shed. ‘Anyone there? ‘ He asked peeking inside cautiously. What met his eyes was a sorrowful sight. Daniyal was sobbing loudly with his head in his knees.
‘Daniyal, my boy, what’s wrong?’ asked Yahya softly going up to him. ‘Everything’s wrong!’ screamed Daniyal angrily. ‘That man destroyed my life! We would have been living on the money Dad left us! I want to kill him!’ Yahya stared at the boy, he sat down next to him, going into a memory relapse. He remembered when 7 years ago, he had heard Ahmed and his gang had shot his father down. His mother had died of a broken heart, leaving him all alone in the world. He himself had sworn to kill Ahmed. He left his town and had shifted to this district. He got a job as a police officer and spent a year trying to track him down. Then he married a woman and lived with her and his mother-in-law.
Then, in a shooting fight, the police nabbed 3 of Ahmed’s men. Yahya was leading the police who caught the men so naturally, Ahmed wanted his revenge. His gang raided his house and shot his wife. At that time, they also shot Yahya in the face and he fell down but was very much alive. The gang left thinking they had killed everyone. Yahya’s wife lost her life and he himself needed a plastic surgery to save his face. He still was very handsome but, he had been handsome before too.

‘This boy might end up like me,’ he thought ‘I have to stop it!’ ‘Daniyal,’ where were you when you left your dad? ‘In the village of Narew.’ Daniyal replied, still sobbing! ‘That’s where they were at the last shoot out!’ thought Yahya excited. ‘They thought we would never dream of searching that place! And we didn't!’ Yahya got up and ran outside. He drove off to the police station and called up for reinforcements.
The next day, Yahya returned. His leg was bandaged up but that was all. The whole house rushed out to meet him. ‘Where were you?’ asked his mother-in-law crying and laughing at the same time. Yahya just grinned. There wasn’t much to explain. He had telephoned for reinforcements and had got them. He had drove down to the village which was 2 hours away. They had made for the old mansion where Yahya had found Ahmed earlier. The police cars had surrounded the house. There was a lot of firing and many policemen and been hit. Fortunately, none had been seriously injured. Reinforcements kept coming and so did the ambulance. All night, there had been shooting and screaming. Finally, at dawn, there was no more noise. Ahmed had been shot dead. Yahya had received treatment and was promoted to head of his station. The hospital wanted him to take rest, but he was all so eager to tell the sad family about his success, he couldn’t wait. Even now as he told them each one of them was laughing at crying at the same time. That night Yahya proposed Sara.
They were going to marry soon, but now, lets leave this happy family thanking their Creator for what he had done!
THE END

Doesn’t it take great courage to forgive someone who has treated you really badly? Even thinking about the ways to “get back at them” makes us feel excited, and if something bad happens to the one who has hurt us, we often feel pleased to hear of it. Let’s see how the greatest person in the history of mankind acted when he encountered hatred and mischief. This great hero of Islam is none other than our beloved and dearest Prophet Muhammad (Sall-Allahu alayhi wa Sallam).

In the tenth year of his prophethood, Prophet Muhammad visited the city of Ta’if, which is situated in a valley between great mountains. Until then, he had found very little success in preaching the message of Allah to the leaders of Makkah, who were not welcoming this message and were making life miserable for the few who did become Muslims. Therefore, Prophet Muhammad (Sall-Allahu alayhi wa Sallam), with his companion Zaid bin Haaritha, decided to spread the message to other places and made Ta’if their destination. The people of Ta’if were very happy with their lives; they had a beautiful valley to live in, enjoyed good food and passed their time in ease and comfort. They also were not willing to listen to this newcomer who was telling them to give up their evil ways and to listen and bow to this One God who they couldn’t even see.

When Prophet Muhammad (Sall-Allahu alayhi wa Sallam) and Zaid reached Ta’if, the leaders of the city made it impossible for the two of them to preach the message of Allah, and treated Prophet Muhammad (Sall-Allahu alayhi wa Sallam) in the worst possible manner. They made street boys run after our dear Prophet and his companion and throw stones at them. These boys were merciless and they pelted Prophet Muhammad (Sall-Allahu alayhi wa Sallam) and Zaid bin Haaritha so much that their shoes filled with blood. They took refuge in a garden and laid down to rest.

Allah, the Exalted, the Mighty, was so displeased with the people of Ta’if for their treatment of His honorable Prophet that He sent down angel Jibril to tell Prophet Muhammad (Sall-Allahu alayhi wa Sallam) that if the Prophet so wished, Allah would crush the whole valley of Ta’if along with its non-believers under the mountains surrounding them.

And what do you think our dear Prophet said? Prophet Muhammad (Sall-Allahu alayhi wa Sallam) was such a compassionate and forgiving person that instead of asking for revenge on the people of Ta’if, he asked Allah, the most Compassionate, the most Merciful, to forgive them and made Du’a that Allah may show the people of Ta’if the right path. This was the level of compassion and mercy that Prophet Muhammad (Sall-Allahu alayhi wa Sallam) had for his enemies, for the people who had caused him great pain and had completely rejected him and his message.

If we have even a small portion of that compassion in our hearts we would not only be better human beings, but would also make everyone around us happy and content. Isn’t it easier to make up and forgive than to torture ourselves with thoughts of enmity and revenge? So, if we want to become a little like our dear Prophet and follow in his footsteps, this is a nice place to start: Forgive others and ask forgiveness for our actions that may have hurt others.

A man came to Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) and said that he had some bad habits and asked Muhammad (pbuh) for some advice. The prophet Muhammad (pbuh) advised him to always speak the truth.

The next day the man was going to steal something. He thought what will I tell the prophet (pbuh) if he asks me what I did today. He knew that he would have to tell the prophet (pbuh) the truth and so decided not to steal.

The next day the same man wanted to drink alcohol. He again thought what will I tell the prophet (pbuh) if he asks me, "What did you do today?" He decided to leave this also as he knew he had to tell the truth to the Prophet (pbuh).

From that day on the man always tried his best to tell the truth and all his bad habits disappeared.

Abdullah ibn Masood(r.a.a) relates that the Prophet
(s.a.w) said 'A true action leads to the path of
virtue and good deeds, and virtue paves the way of a
person to Paradise, and the said person continues to
speak the truth till in the sight of Allah he is named
Siddiq (Truthful). lying leads to vice, and vice
leads to indecent acts and a person goes on lying till
in the sight of Allah he is named a liar.'
