‘WHY me, Allah? Why me? Why not anyone else? Was I the only one created to suffer difficulties in this life?’

I recall getting stuck in a problem a few months back. The problem was really serious, and I had transgressed this time. I felt as though I had betrayed my own family and myself. It isn’t easy for anyone to go through a storm, especially when you have absolutely no one by your side.

I still can’t forget those painful days! As I had no one to help me, no one to talk to me, no one to listen to me and no one to stand by my side. I was left completely alone. I felt as though even my own shadow had left me all alone. I tried many things, literally ‘many’ things to prevent myself from getting drowned into this problem.

The very first thing that I did to save myself from getting into trouble was that I called up a friend of mine to help me get out of this problem. When I realized that she was unable to help me, I called up another friend of mine, only to realize that she too was unable to help me. Trust me; I called up all of my 15-25 friends only to hear the same response! I was left helpless.

I thought of many plans, many ideas, once again only to realize that all of those plans and ideas were in vain. When I found nothing to help me get out of the problem that I was facing, my last and final option was to call on Allah for help. I called on Him in every prayer of mine, I called on Him late at nights, I called on Him with tears falling from my eyes, I called on Him with some hope in my heart, that He might respond to my call and I called on Him with some fear in my heart, that He might not respond to my call….

It’s strange, isn’t it? That we, humans, call on Allah only when the road isn’t smooth. We call on Him, only when we know that we can’t change the problematic situation to a normal one. We call on Him when we find that things are getting worse. We call on Him when our families and friends are unable to help us. In short, we call on Allah when we find no hope of anyone’s help besides His.

As Allah says in the Quran:

And when harm touches man, he invokes Us, lying down on his side, or sitting or standing. But when We have removed his harm from him, he passes on his way as if he had never invoked Us for a harm that touched him?. (Qur'an 10:12)

How true! This is exactly what we tend to do in our lives. When the storm hits us we call on Allah, and when it passes away we forget Him; acting as though the storm never really touched us and we never really called on Him for help.

But before calling on Allah for help, we first try to ask our families or friends to help us, if they’re unable to, we try making thousands and thousands of plans, even if these plans don’t work the way we want them to, then we are left to call only upon Allah for help. As soon as Allah helps us in overcoming the difficulty that we are facing, we become ungrateful to His blessings…

As Allah says in the Quran:

It is He who gave you life, will cause you to die, and will again give you life: Truly man is a most ungrateful creature. (Qur'an,22:66)

Thoughts to ponder over:-

Don’t just call upon Allah when you are struck with calamities, trials or crises, call upon Him every day, every hour and every minute of your life.

Stop asking or begging people for help. Instead, call on Allah & InshaAllah He’ll positively respond to your call.

Make Allah your best buddy! Make a habit of asking Allah for small stuff, like when you lose your pen, book, or any other small stuff. In this way, InshAllah you’ll develop the habit of asking only Him all the time.

Never depend on anyone for help. Depend only upon ALLAH when it comes to asking for help.

When the way is cloudy, remember that Allah is your only Guide.

Remember Allah in times of ease, so that He will remember you in times of difficulty.

Two Brothers

Once there lived two brothers who lost their parents at an early age. They worked together on their family farm. Some years later, the elder married and had a family with 2 children, while the other was still single. They worked hard together in the day and at the end of each day they shared their produce equally.

One day while the single brother was working in the fields, he thought to himself, “It’s not right that we share equally everything. I’m alone and my needs are simple. My brother has a big family. He needs much more.” With that in mind he took a sack full of grains and slowly went to his brothers barn and places the sack quietly. He did so every night.

Meanwhile, the married brother thought to himself, “It’s not right that we share everything equally. After all, I’m married and I have my wife and children to look after me in years to come. My brother has no family and no one can take care of his future. He really should have a bigger share.” So each night he took a bag of grain and put it into his brothers barn quietly.

This went on and both men were puzzled for years because their grain never dwindled.

Then one night, on the way to each others barn, the two brothers coincidentally met and they found out what was happening all these years! They dropped their bags, cried and embraced one another with tears of happiness.

Moral: love for your brother what you love for yourself.

May ALLAH allow us to implement this beautiful quality in our lives and keep us away from jealousy. Amin.

There was a programme at RAJAGIRI campus, an arts festival for ORPHANS in and around Cohin. i was there at the site with my friends..i saw something very specia
l..i thought i must share this wonderful small happening..

i was at the very back seat of the hall where the programme was being conducted..2 rows ahead of my row, there was a pack of 20 to 25 kids sitting..among them, the smallest of all
caught my attention...he was so naughty that he created all sorts of disturbances to all others in his circle...even i was irritated...he was such a nonsense..i even thought of giving him a small hit to make him calm..

the time was nearing noon...he was hungry..he was looking all around for food...he was constantly asking his senior in his pack, to give him some food...his senior stood up and gave him a cup of water from the filter...but since he was very young, he started to cry for food...i was watching all these but didnt care to giv him anything.....

Towards the very back of the hall, on a table, a volunteer suddenly came in with a small packet of biscuit...this small kid ran up to him and with great pain, begged him a piece of biscuit. the volunteer gave him the whole packet of biscuits to him..it contained not more than 15 to 20 biscuits ...

U should have seen that brightness and happiness on this kids' face!!....i thought he will be eating all of the biscuits in one go.........

To my great SURPRISE, he came back to his pack. HE GAVE EACH AND EVERYONE OF HIS FRIENDS ATLEAST HALF A BISCUIT EACH....EVERYBODY were raising hands at him to get a piece of it.he gave the biscuits graciously to all.he gave his senior 1 biscuit too...BUT ATLAST, he didnt get even a small piece since he gave evrything in it, to everybody ..i think he knew that, in the end, he wont be getting anything , but he was ready to givee.....

he looked inside the packet to get a piece for him..it didnt have anything.....i thought he would start to cry...surprisingly, he looked at the faces of his friends and smiled at them that he was happy to see their happy faces...he didnt grabbed anybodies biscuits instead he silently went back to his senior and sat on his lap....

his senior was watching him all the way , while he was sharing the biscuits to all...this senior too got a biscuit...i have seen this senior acting like, he was going to eat it, while he was offered one...but since my concentration was on the little kid, i ignored him...

AGAIN SURPRISE!!!! this senior boy, took this small kid in his lap and took the biscuit , (which was given to him by this little kid), gave that to the kid with a SWEET KISS SAYING " GOOD BOY"...the kid took it and was abt to eat the whole.....

AGAIN SURPRISE!!!!.....he broke down the biscuit into two and gave one half to his senior...he ensured that hs senior also enjoy its taste..the both had the biscuits together....the hugged eachother..they said nothing but looked at eachothers eyes.....

this little kid may be 4 yrs old and his senior may be 10 or 11 yrs old....BOTH WERE ORPHANS..

When a hurricane touched down in a small town nearby, many families were left devastated. Afterward, all the local newspapers carried many human interest stories featuring some of the families who suffered the hardest. One Sunday, a particu

lar picture especially touched me. A young woman stood in front of a totally demolished mobile home, an anguished expression twisting her features. A young boy, seven or eight years old, stood at her side, eyes downcast. Clutching at her skirt was a tiny girl who stared into the camera, eyes wide with confusion and fear. The article that accompanied the picture gave the clothing sizes of each family member. With growing interest, I noticed that their sizes closely matched ours. This would be a good opportunity to teach my children to help those less fortunate than themselves.
I taped the picture of the young family to our refrigerator, explaining their plight to my seven-year-old twins, Mohammad and Abdullah , and to three-year-old Ayesha. "We have so much, and these poor people now have nothing," I said. "We'll share what we have with them."

I brought three large boxes down from the attic and placed them on the living room floor. Ayesha watched solemnly as the boys and I filled one of the boxes with canned goods and other nonperishable foods, soap and other assorted toiletries. While I sorted through our clothes, I encouraged the boys to go through their toys and donate some of their less favorite things. Ayesha watched quietly as the boys piled up discarded toys and games. "I'll help you find something for the little girl when I'm done with this," I said.

The boys placed the toys they had chosen to donate into one of the boxes while I filled the third box with clothes. Ayesha walked up with Fulla, her worn, faded, frazzled, much-loved rag doll hugged tightly to her chest. She paused in front of the box that held the toys, pressed her round little face into Fulla's flat, painted-on-face, gave her a final kiss, then laid her gently on top of the other toys. "Oh, Honey," I said. Ayesha nodded solemnly, eyes glistening withheld-back tears. "Fulla makes me happy, Mommy. Maybe she'll make that other little girl happy, too."

Swallowing hard, I stared at Ayesha for a long moment, wondering how I could teach the boys the lesson she had just taught me. For I suddenly realized that anyone can give their cast-offs away. True generosity is giving that which you cherish most. Honest benevolence is a three-year-old offering a treasured, albeit shabby doll to a little girl she doesn't know with the hope that it will bring this child as much pleasure as it brought her.
I, who had wanted to teach, had been taught.

If I fasted everyday for the rest of my life, I still wouldn't feel the amount of suffer I see in this picture

~True Belief Never Goes Vain~
Fathima Besuna Sadiki
All rights reserved@Allah’s presence

There is a reason behind every single thing. I am sick for last three months and I am wondering all the time “why?” because not a single doctor could find out what exactly it is with me that makes me vomit. They did every single test to diagnose yet all reports came back normal. Not a single mouthful digested not even water stayed down. I suffered a lot. I don’t know if anyone could bel

ieve if I say I lived a whole three months on saline with the blessings of ALLAH. Only thing I could eat was one banana per day. I say Alhamdhulillah for that too. I had no strength to stand; I fainted so often; always needed someone to hold me.
First weeks during my sickness all were so worried and tried hard to look after me and they really took care of me as they can’t live without me. I was really happy to have such people around me Alhamdhulillah! Then when it came to months and still I was not well, besides my sickness had grown and I was fully weak both physically and mentally; I saw people moving away from me. They saw me as headache. I must say not all but some. There are lots till caring about me making heartiest dhuas for me. Some tried to take me to healers I strictly refused saying “ALLAH is there for everything” some scared to visit me thinking a ‘jinn’ may be within me, and my house is haunted because it’s a new one, and some said “ah she is acting… she is acting to take attention..” those words made me stressed so that took me to mentally ill kinda type Subhanallah! Could one can really act with her health? I don’t know, but I can’t because I know ALLAH is watching us.
I was admitted in the hospital several times yet with no positive result. Eventually they sent me to the psycho patients ward subhanallah! I can’t express my feeling while entering to that ward, still my family members don’t know about that except my husband. After having a chat with me the psychologist decided that I am not a psycho patient but I am a depressed patient I need not be admitted there yet have to take medicine which he prescribed and asked me to have them at least for six months, if not I’ll be a one among those patients. It was the day of Eid-ul Adha, I cried not in front of him but alone I pleaded ALLAH; why this happened to me? Why the doctors say so? Why my health deteriorates? When the clock struck 12 o’clock I saw my husband entering to the ward. He saw me crying and I said: “I want to go home; I can’t stand it here anymore; please take me home” but doctors refused. We hid all those things from our own family. We do not want to bother them on the day of festival. Especially I can’t see my dad and my entire family suffering and see me with commiserative eyes.

From the beginning my cousin sister used to tell me “try unnani medicine, you will find relief with help of ALLAH!” So at last we, me and my husband decided to go for that. We found a Hafees from Digana, Sri Lanka who is a unnani doctor plus a Hafees, he mostly uses Qur’anic medicines which our Prophet Sallallaahu alahi wasallam said and did. He gave several handmade liquid medicines but no positive result was seen. He too worried and he suggested us to go for ‘cupping’ yet he said he can’t do it now because I am that much weak to do so but he did ‘dry cupping’ Alhamdhulillah my vomiting has stopped but till I can’t eat heavy foods as rice and all but Alhamdhulillah All praise to ALLAH alone for what I am now. In sha ALLAH for complete recovery I have to face for a complete cupping after a month. Till then I have to take rest and not to stain myself for anything and no hard work because I am that much physically weak.
From the beginning; to now I never forget ALLAH is with me. I knew and know HE is testing my Sabr. “Innallaaha Ma’as Saabireen”. HE does so because HE love HIS, this slave… that’s how I believe. What ever happened I never gave up my prayers. Yes there was a time I was not able to stand up with my feet so I used a chair to make contact with my Rabb and can you believe there was a time that I couldn’t sit in a chair either, so I sat on the ground and performed my salah. And sad to say I missed several prayers because of the dosage. I started hating people and I stopped talking with them. I sat sat on the ground and talked with my Rabb. I said every single feeling of mine to HIM. I did zikr mostly “ La’ilaaha Illah anta subhanaka inni kunthu minal lalimeen!” My Rabb kept me safe even without food, how Merciful HE is Subhanallah! I survived Because of my true believe in ALLAH and my beloved ones dhuas. There is no greater medicine than dhuas. Alhamdhulillah now I feel quite better and as per to the Hafees In sha ALLAH, have to wait another month for complete recovery if ALLAH wills.
I still didn’t find any answers for my “why’s” yet ALLAH taught me better lessons out of it. That’s why they say everything happens for the greater good. HE showed me what kind of people are around me, how they change, who is real and who is fake. Most of all HE taught me what is dhunya, how Powerful my Rabb is. Now I really don’t care about the month no matter if it increases for another year I know ALLAH is with me. The Better PLANNER. What else one need in this dunya than Rahmath of ALLAH! If not today I’ll be alright tomorrow because I know True Belief Never Goes In Vain. “HasbhiALLAHU Wa’ni;hmal Waqeel”.

Jazahkallahu khair for Hafees Abdul Shukr, and each and every soul who made and still making dhuas for my speedy recovery. May ALLAH keep you all safe and Rewards you the best in this dhunya and Ak’ira as well.

Devoted husband dedicates blog to his coma-stricken ‘dear’

By YVONNE LIM
yvonnelim@thestar.com.my

PETALING JAYA: A husband who quit his job to take care of his coma-stricken wife has started a blog to express his thoughts and experiences.
Abil Fikri Ahmad said that he created the blog (abil4fauziah.blogspot.com) in the hope that his wife Fauziah Muhamad would one day recover.
A sudden asthma attack more than a year ago has left Fauziah in a vegetative state.
This is love: A photo grab from a video showing Abil reading a book to his wife Fauziah.
This is love: A photo grab from a video showing Abil reading a book to his wife Fauziah.
“I want Fauziah to know what happened when she recovers, (if) I am not able to be there to explain it to her,” said the 43-year-old former financial planner.
His blog postings are addressed to Fauziah, a former financial consultant, whom he calls “Dear”.
Many readers have left comments in response to his posts, encouraging him to stay strong and telling him how his words have inspired them.
Doctors have told Abil that Fauziah, 38, would most likely remain in a vegetative state for the rest of her life, but he still wakes up every morning hoping to hear her call out his name.
Abil's life now revolves around looking after Fauziah who requires round-the-clock care.
His daily routine includes feeding her liquid food through a tube, bathing her, changing her diapers and giving her medication, while reading and talking to her.
“She is my wife and it is my responsibility as her husband to care for her no matter what,” Abil said in a telephone interview.
He described Fauziah, his wife of three years, as a “classic beauty” who was an excellent cook. He had fallen in love with her at first sight.
He recalled how Fauziah woke him up in a state of panic complaining of difficulty in breathing in June last year.
“On the way to Hospital Kuala Lumpur, she stopped breathing but the doctors managed to resuscitate her. She was in a coma in the ICU for about five days.
“By the time she woke up, she had lost almost all body functions and could only move her head sideways,” he said.
Abil quit his job, mortgaged their house in Kuala Lumpur and moved back to Seremban to take care of Fauziah.
He is on a strict budget and is surviving on his savings. Readers of his blog and followers of his Facebook page called “Dana Sinar Fauziah”have offered financial support, which Abil said is “just enough to get by”.
Asked what his plans are, he said:
“There's no telling what the future holds. But as long as she lives, I will be by her side,” he said.

WHAT A BEAUTIFUL STORY, SUBHAN'ALLAH:

"Dr. Saeed, a well-known doctor, was once on his way to an important medical conference in another city in which he was going to be granted an award for medical research he had recently done. He could

barely contain his excitement on his way to the airport and couldn’t wait until he arrived at the conference. He had worked long and hard on his research and felt his efforts deserved the award he was about to obtain. However, an hour after the plane took off, the pilot announced that there was a problem with the plane and that they were going to make an emergency landing at the nearest airport.

Afraid that he wouldn’t make it in time for the conference, the doctor ran to the information desk as soon as the plane landed and explained to the woman at the desk that he was expected to be at a very important conference and that he needed to find another way to get to his destination. She told him that there was nothing she could do to help him as there wouldn’t be another flight to his destination for another sixteen hours; but suggested he rent a car and drive down to the city as it was only three hours away. Having no other choice, the doctor agreed to the idea despite his hatred for driving long distances.

The doctor rented a car and started his journey. However, soon after he left, the weather suddenly changed and a heavy storm began. The pouring rain made it very difficult for him to see and he missed a turn he was supposed to take. After two hours of driving, he was convinced he was lost. Driving in the heavy rain on a deserted road, feeling hungry and tired, he frantically began to look for any sign of civilization. After some time, he finally came across a dark tiny cottage. Desperate, he got out of the car and knocked on the door.

A small elderly woman opened the door for him. He explained his situation and asked if he could use her telephone. She told him that she didn’t have a phone or electricity but that he was welcome to come in for some food and something warm to drink as he had completely lost his way and that it would take him some time to get back on the right road. Hungry, wet and exhausted, the doctor accepted her kind offer and walked in. The woman told him to help himself to some food and hot tea on the table and then excused herself to finish her prayers.

Sitting on the table sipping his tea, the doctor watched the woman in the dim light of the candles as she prayed next to what appeared to be a small baby crib. Every time she finished a prayer, she would start another one, and she seemed to be engrossed in making du`a’ while in sujood (prostration). Every now and then she would rock the crib gently.

Feeling that the woman might be in need of help, the doctor seized the opportunity to speak as soon as she finished one of her prayers and told her that he hoped Allah (swt) would answer her du`a’s. He then said that he noticed that she had been making a lot of du`a’ and asked if there was something she needed that he could get for her or help her with. The woman smiled and said that ALLAH (swt) had answered all her prayers except for one. She said she didn’t know why Allah (swt) hadn’t answered this specific prayer yet but perhaps it was because of her weak iman (faith).

The doctor asked if she didn’t mind telling him what she was making the du`a’ for. Nodding her head in approval, she said that the child in the crib was her grandson and that both his parents had recently died in a car accident. She said that the child had a very rare type of cancer and that all the doctors she had seen were unable to treat him. She also said that she had been told that there was a doctor who specialized in the type of cancer her grandson had, but there was no way for her to get to this doctor as he lived very far from her; so she has been spending her days and nights praying and making du`a’ that Allah (swt) helps her find a way to get to Dr. Saeed—the doctor who could treat her grandson.

Upon hearing her words, tears began to flow down the doctor’s cheeks and he said: ‘Subhan’Allah (glory be to God), there was a malfunction in the plane, a thunderstorm hit, and I lost my way; and all of this happened because Allah (swt) did not just answer your prayer by helping you find a way to get to Dr. Saeed, but he brought Dr. Saeed to your house. I am Dr. Saeed.’

With tears streaming down her cheeks, the woman raised her hands in du`a’ and said: ‘Oh Allah, how great and merciful You are!’"

[[May ALLAH reward brother Salman Quader for sharing this beautiful story with us, ameen]]

Had I but Known---A LONG STORY BUT WORTH READING

Anfal, a rich young girl, sat waiting impatiently at the doctor’s clinic to get the results of a medical test. She was in a hurry to attend a party and feared she might be late for her appointment with the hairdresser. She never thought the result would be anything important. It was just a precaution insisted upon by her family.

She had never suff

ered any serious illness, apart from the odd ache in her, apart from the odd ache in her limbs. Then, it was her turn to see the doctor. She hurried inside to get it over with as quickly as possible. She was surprised to see the doctor look sad and concerned as he asked, “Is this yours?”

She answered, “No, it is my daughter’s.”

She wanted to know the truth and thought that perhaps he would hide the truth, if she told him it was her own. He asked her to have a seat, so she sat feeling somewhat afraid. She looked at him anxiously, as he said,

“Why did not you send a man to get the results?”

Anfal said, “It was on my way so there was no need to send someone else.”

The doctor looked sadly at her and said, “You seem to be an educated girl. You understand the nature of life.”

He stopped talking, and she began to tremble.

She asked, “What do you mean doctor?”

The doctor said, “The result indicates that there is a blood disease.” He looked down at his papers and remained silent. Anfal had to ask him to give her more information. She cried in fear, “Is it cancer?”

He did not look at her, but a cloud of sadness covered his face. It was as if he was sentencing her to death.

She said in a broken voice, “I am finished then.” The doctor knew then that she had lied, but it was too late to hide the truth. He looked kindly at her and said, “I am sorry for you. Why did you lie? Anyway life and death are matters within Allah’s power. Many sick people live long and many healthy ones die.”

Anfal felt as if she were drowning, as if a hard fist was cruelly squeezing her heart. She tried hard to regain her strength and said, “I do apologize. Thank you doctor.”

The doctor encouraged her saying, “Be strong and optimistic. Medical science is constantly progressing. Some of today’s incurable sicknesses can be cured tomorrow I still have hope. Leave me your telephone number.” She repeated the number automatically without knowing what she was saying. Feeling great shock and bitterness, she again thanked the doctor and left.

At home she kept the truth to herself. She did not know how to share it. Anyway, everyone was busy, getting ready for the party. Her mother asked, “Have you been to the doctor? Why did not you go to the hairdresser?” It was just a by-the-way question, needing no answer. She briefly said, “I am not going to the party !”

She went upstairs into her room and locked the door.

She stretched out on her bed fully clothed and listened to her family’s voices, as if they were coming from a far away place. The wind seemed to her to be a funeral sad tune, lamenting her approaching death. The bedroom seemed strange to her as she would be leaving it soon. What about the house? It would not remember her. She was just a guest. Others would take her room and soon forget her. She tried to cry but tears did not help.

She looked around her in pain. Those curtains that she had tried so hard to get, would stay after her. It would not have mattered if they had been made of the roughest fabric, she would leave them for others. She wished she had not troubled herself for such things. She wished she had saved her time and money for more useful things, which could have been helpful to her in her difficulty.

She wondered, “What is useful to me?” She was young, beautiful and rich with everything her heart could desire. Could anything help her and save her from death? She had always longed for an official job with a good salary. She had it, but could it save her from death?

An idea struck her. She hurried to the phone while everyone was away. She dialed the doctor’s number and asked eagerly, “If I travel abroad can I find a cure?”

He said, “There is nothing new abroad. It is a waste of money.”

She put the phone down and sat on a nearby chair.

Her salary would not change matters. She walked through the house’s rooms as if saying her farewells. She paced the small garden and looked at the trees. She whispered, “I wish these trees knew I am leaving them, those stones, walls…I wish these doors knew my hands will soon no longer open them. I wish those flowers, that I planted and watered knew. How often the thorns and hard stones tore my hands!

How often I watered those dying flowers with my tears when there was no water. I wish they knew the meaning of my departure. These fruiting trees were tiny when I planted them. I did my best to help them flourish until they grew up healthy and fruitful. Will they know I am soon leaving? Will they remember my days in their company? What about these seats, I used to rest on. Will they miss my presence? Will they be ready for someone else to settle on them? My writing desk felt my writing in tears and in smiles, does it know I am leaving? Will it miss my pen and papers in its drawers? I wish they all knew I am leaving. I wish I had known I was leaving, then I would not have cared so much for this life. I would not have felt proud and arrogant…

Had I known I were a guest in this world I would not have been cheated or tempted by its luxuries…

Had I known this I would have been aware that leaving a simple life is easier than leaving a luxurious one…

Had I lived a simple life, I would not have found it difficult to cross from this world to the next. My family is now enjoying the party…how often I longed for such parties, how much I cared for fashion and hairstyles! Can they help me now?”

Anfal threw herself down on the nearest chair as if she had realized a truth previously unknown to her.

She said, “What shall I take with me? Nothing but the coffin and my deeds. What kind of deeds will go with me on my long journey? Nothing! Yes, nothing!” She remembered her friend Sarah, who used to advise her and guide her to the right path of Allah. She used to remind her of the Qur’anic verse: …and make provision, for the provision is the guarding of oneself. [Al-Baqarah:239]

She had never considered the importance of good deeds. Now she was in need of such deeds to present to Allah. She would stand to give her account, but what would she say? How could she expect Allah’s mercy when she disobeyed His orders? How could she ask for forgiveness when she never even thought of obeying Him in her life’s affairs?

She wished she had read the Holy Qur’an instead of all those cheap novels. She wished she had gained some knowledge of her religion instead of reading film-star magazines. She continued wishing she had done few things, and not done other things. She wished she had not angered this person or that, and had never lied or gossiped about anyone. She wished she had not been proud and despised the poor.

She said, “I wish I could start my life all over again to make-up for my errors and to obey Allah’s orders. I worshipped my desires and ignored my Creator. I wish I could live for a while to make up for my sins.”

She remembered a Qur’anic verse, her grandfather used to recite: Until when death overtakes one of them he says: Send me back, my Lord. Haply I may do good in that which I have left. By no means! It is a mere word that he speaks, and before them is a barrier until the day they are raised. [Al-Mominun: 99]

Here she said, “Oh God, I do mean it…” Tears burst from her eyes. She cried bitterly in repentance, not pain. She decided to obey Allah in all His orders if she lived a bit longer. The phone rang and she walked towards it lazily. Tears in her eyes she said, “Yes?”

Someone said, “Can I speak to Miss Anfal?” She knew the speaker. It was her doctor. She said, “Yes, speaking.”

The doctor said cheerfully, “Congratulations my daughter! There is nothing wrong with you. Thank God!”

She was stunned with surprise. She did not know what to say. “No disease? How? You are joking, doctor!”

The doctor said, “May Allah protect me I am not joking. I have just got an apology from the analyst. He explained that there was a mix-up with the names. Your name was written instead of someone else. I have your medical report here in front of me. You are quite well. Be thankful to Allah my daughter.”

Excitedly she said, “Thanks be to Allah, Thank you doctor.”

She put the phone down, feeling as if she was new born. She knew she was safe for a while, but death would certainly come one day. She had no time to waste. However long she lived she was a guest.

The first thing she did was to perform her prayer, which she had neglected for a long time. She promised Allah to obey His orders to pray, fast, and stick to wearing decent clothes. She would also give up whatever Allah had forbidden. In order not to forget this, she wrote the Qur’anic verse on a placard and hung it on the wall. On the other side she wrote a wise saying:

“Repent the day before you die. Because you do not know when you will die, then always be repentant.”

Look to those lower than you:

Look around you, to the right and to the left. Do you not see the afflicted and the unfortunate? In every house there is mourning and upon every cheek run tears. How many tribulations and how many people persevere with patience. You are not alone in your troubles, which are few compared to those of others. How many sick people remain bedridden for years while suffering from unspeakable pain! How many have not seen the light of the sun for years due to their imprisonment, having knowledge of nothing but the four corners of their cell! How many men and women have lost their children in the prime of their youth! How many people are troubled or tormented!

Find consolation with those that are worse off than you; know that this life is like a prison for the believer, an abode of grief and sadness. You must adapt like the experienced camel, which manages, when necessary, to kneel upon a rock. You must also compare your difficulties of those around you, and with those that have come before you; you should realize that you are in good shape relative to them, and that you have merely been pricked by tiny difficulties. So praise Allah for His kindness, be thankful for what He has left for you, seek recompense from Him for what He has taken and seek consolation with those that are afflicted.

Prepare for Hereafter
-Mahnoor Barlas

The last thing i could remember that he said to me was to do everything to only to Please Allah... Pleasing people won't get you anywhere... Because in the end... You will have to answer the questions which Allah shall ask you by your self... the people who you pleased won't be there to do so...
So stop wasting your time and start preparing for the hereafter.. i don't want you to to the same mistake as i did...

He told me "When i,ll go from this world.. Don't cry or be sad
But do remember all the things which once i said"

One day i woke up and found out that he was Gone
And Remembered that he told me my Absence wont make a Difference and the world shall still go On

All the things you did for the People shall then have no Name
You wish if you did them all for God you would have won this world,s Game

You,ll see without me the world shall still be the Same
Only difference would be that people would just stop calling another Name

So my dear dress only for the sake of God
Dressing to please others won't get you any Reward

Remember that you are in this World only for ALLAH
So don't waste your Time and Prepare for the Hereafter

You may see someone trying to win someone's heart with Lies
But if you can't say the Truth then saying nothing at all my dear is Wise

God shall ask what you did for me ?
"I was busy pleasing others" this your answer should not be

So everything you do ... do it to please ALLAH
In the end others wont answer what you did with your time or how many times you offered Salah.

So if you ever miss me just remember by Advice
And share these words said by a person who was Wise

Your Parents Deserve your Love
-Zeneefa Zaneer

A man came to the Prophet and said, ‘O Messenger of God! Who among the people is the most worthy of my good companionship? The Prophet said: Your mother. The man said, ‘Then who?' The Prophet said: Then your mother. The man further asked, ‘Then who?' The Prophet said: Then your mother. The man asked again, ‘Then who?' The Prophet said: Then your father. (Bukhari, Muslim).

It is true that a mother goes through many difficulties yet it doesn’t mean a father doesn’t. It is true that prophet Muhammed (PBUH) told to love the mother more yet he (PBUH) didn’t tell not to love the father.
There have been many poems, stories and articles been written and dedicated to mothers yet there’s less when it comes to a father. A father’s love speaks less so we too discuss less about his love. I often come across the words saying ‘no love can be compared with a mother’s love’ or similar statuses. I stare at such statements with disagreement. I’m a mother so I should feel better yet my heart doesn’t let me to be partial. I’ve experienced the unconditional love of a father and now I experience my husband sheds his unconditional love over my children.
Yes, as a mother I know mothers go through difficult times from bearingchildren within them and bringing them up. They risk themselves to give birth to their children. When I was carrying my babies in me what I felt was, let them be safe no matter what happens to me. It is not a surprise to think so, every mother expect her child’s wellbeing. She sacrifices her sleep, her likings and every thing, almost everything. She forgets about her life while she takes care of other lives. The happiness of her is to see her children smile and be happy. She cries not for her pains but for her children’s. I have seen my mother being worried about her grandchildren where I have never seen her being panicked when something went wrong with us. She becomes brave to hold her pains within herself for her children. She courageously bears the agonies but she fails to bear the agonies her children face. When I had met with an accident, broke my ankle my mother was expecting her third child and she was close to her due, yet she walked miles carrying me to the doctor because it was during political distress in the country and had no means of transportation.
That was a mother; she scolds and screams at her children when they do something wrong because if she doesn’t correct them today someone else might correct them in future leaving scars and bruises.

So is it only a mother who goes through every difficulty? No, not at all! How can we simply forget the man behind her? How can we neglect his love? Yes, there are cruel fathers too who heartlessly neglect their children. But aren’t there any such mothers too? Yes there are. There are different kinds of human. There are criminals in the society, yet not every human being is a criminal. Likewise, there can be bad fathers and bad mothers but we cannot label every parent with same title.
Some says a father is like a sleeping partner in a company, he goes to work, earn, come back and sleeps. Wakes up and same routine begins every day. Do you think so? Do you know how difficult it is to earn a penny? How much of pressure they bear in themselves. They bottle up their agonies. They have pressure at working place as well as home. Yet he silently bears not letting others feel how depressed he is.

‘No storm is stronger than emotions of a father, no love is silence than his love, and no voice could be deep as the oceans as his.’
When he is emotionally blown it is stronger than a storm. That is because his love is not shown but stored. Have you seen a dam? What happens when the doors of the dams are open? His love is similar to that. SubhanAllah, trust me learn to feel him you will understand, every breath he drops down carries an amount of love for the family he cares. I’ve seen so many such fathers. To whom they sacrifice their age? For his children and family. I know, some of you would not agree…but as I’ve said there are good and bad people. There are mothers who protect their children like their own life but don’t we meet otherwise? Haven’t we heard of mothers who torture their children, who neglects for their enjoyment?
Although it is a custom here that meals are served first to the men in the family, we practice the other way. My husband always let me have my meals first while he looked after the kids and then he dines. Although he had to go to work early in the morning he woke up in midnight and had helped me to lullaby the infants. Even it happens now. When my children fall sick, it is he who panics a lot, why? Because of the love he has. I’ve seen him crying when my son was admitted in the hospital. I have never seen him broken the way he was then. I’ve heard my father has been the same kind. I still can remember my dad was the one who gave medicines for us and now I see the history being repeated.

The fathers I see do wash their children’s clothes, help them do homework, clean the house, cook and help the mothers in every possible way. The only thing they don’t do is bearing their children. That is the only difference between a father and a mother, so they need to be loved and cared. It’s our duty to understand them. Teenagers see their fathers as their greatest enemies, because fathers are strict. We feel more comfortable in communicating with mother than the father. At night, both my children come to me to hug and I see my husband bear it with a smile. Children feel more secure with their mother but it is the father who protects the family going through hard times, holding the pains and rejections by himself.

"Thy Lord hath decreed that ye worship none but Him, and that ye be kind to parents. Whether one or both of them attain old age in thy life, say not to them a word of contempt, nor repel them, but address them in terms of honor. And out of kindness, lower to them the wing of humility, and say: ‘My Lord! bestow on them Thy Mercy even as they cherished me in childhood' "(17:23-24).

If you feel your father doesn’t deserve to be loved then ask Allah dua to make him better. No matter what they are, we have to learn to love them, if it looks impossible try not to hate and add them in your dua. From billions of people it is them that Allah has chosen to be your parents. So it doesn’t matter whether they showed you love or not, as a Muslim you have to learn to love and respect them. Be thankful for Allah for you are been blessed with parents because someone somewhere is wishing for one.
Seasons are different so are the human. Not two are the same, so learn to accept how they are. There might be untold pains and stories in their lives. People who are living in deserts have to bear the whether no matter how much they disliked. There are always alternative options rather than leaving that place.
Do you know when there’s a cavity in a tooth, the dentist does not extract it at once? Do you think it would be the same once a tooth is extracted? No, there’s a difference. There’s a difference in the procedure of chewing as well as the appearance of you. It is same with the bonds in life. Be thankful for what you have. Today’s’ bad father can turn into the best father tomorrow with Allah’s mercy. Never ever choose one over another, both your parents deserve to be loved and cared for they have been sacrificing their entire life to bring you up.

"We have enjoined on man kindness to his parents; in pain did his mother bear him, and in pain did she give him birth" (46:15).

In this verse it talks about mother, for she carries the baby but as a grown up don’t you know that the father has a part in this production? Use your wisdom to understand life deeply rather just seeing it as it is.

No storm is stronger than emotions of a father, no love is silence than his love, and no voice could be deep as the oceans as his.

No quilt can give the warmth of a mother, no comfy mattress would be comfortable as her lap and no lullaby is a match for her gentle breath.

Deja Vu
S.Lubna

''WILL YOU NOT LISTEN TO ME?'' he yelled on the top of his voice. A chill ran down my spine.
''Leave my kids alone please Haroon for Allah's sake have mercy. I never spoke anything when you did anything to me. Spare my kids of your wrath please i beg of you'' Maa wept in every breath. Heavy breaths as i could feel them still, being in my room. She begged for mercy, begged and cried repeatedly to her so called 'better half'. But no sign of mercy no silver lining shone in the darkness of evil.
''WILL YOU JUST SHUT UP WOMAN? You have been the cause of all my failures. I used to be so successful, I use to earn enough to provide my family my brothers my mother and even to fill you and your kids' filthy mouths. But you had to cast your omen on me, didn't you? And today you stand up to me, YOU HAVE THE GUTS TO STAND UP TO ME when i am teaching our children to be polite? YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO STAY HERE!!'' he barked with his aged might and pulled my mother with her hair.
I gulped in an uncertain lump of emotions pouring out from my heart. It was like a movie, being telecast again, a scene i'm watching again. A deja vu, of an event fifteen years ago.

I was ten. Too young to understand most things. The age where the kids have the apathy of having the best bag in class, i had the tension to be good to avoid the fights between my parents.
''SAVE MEE ASMAAA SAVE ME!!'' I heard Maa's scream. Too loud to be unheard. I ran back in our house leaving my hopscotch midway. The voice got louder as i approached my home. ''Save me ASMA save me please!'' she begged to a ten year old. I looked at her. Her face had turned red. As she had turned when she gave birth to my youngest brother Luqman. It wasn't long ago. May be some weeks back. Yet that didn't seem the cause she was crying. She was in pain. I could see that. I could see a lot more than that which i never wished to see.
She was still screaming. Mourning. ''ASMAAA...'' her call was turning into a cry. A weep. As i saw Abbu pull her by her hair.

He was yelling something. But i didn't bother to hear. I was scared of him. Since always. I stood near the door fearing to be his other victim. Yet i wanted to save Maa.
Asia, my baby sister, she caught my shirt in fear. She too was scared.
I looked down at her. She didnt look normal. She was trembling. In fear and fever too. I tried consoling her but before i could say anything, we heard a big blow.
I snapped back to see Abbu slap Maa with his belt, his hand, and every cruel tool possible.
Maa screamt louder and Asia started crying. As loud as Maa.
I could bear it no more. I could see Maa bleed. Her fair skin turning red. Her brown eyes fading in tears. Her wounds turning green grey and black.
I was terrified. Horrified to the limit i could be.
How i wish i was strong enough, big enough to save my mother. She was in sheer pain. And i could do nothing.
I caught Asia's had and ran back out to get help. I couldn't leave her alone in that den. With a hunter on the loose, hungry for blood. I just couldn't.
We ran here and there, not knowing what to do. Not knowing whom to ask help from. We ran here and there.

''ASMAA!'' the same cry brought me back to the Deja Vu. I saw a belt in Abbu's hands. His intentions didnt look pure. Asia caught my dress. I looked at her. The fear in her eyes was no more alive. All that i could see was agony. Hate against the act that was about to happen.
No i was scared, scared to look up and see the belt slap my mother's body. I couldn't let it happen again. But it was too late.
Before i could give birth to my thoughts, i heard the blow.
We ran out of the room. Me Asia and Luqman.
We could not bear his wrath on Maa anymore.
''Abbu!'' Asia screamt on the top of her voice.
I ran and hugged Maa to absorb myself any blow that would now harm her.
Abbu raised his belt to hit Asia too. But he could not sway. Luqman held his aged arms wit his adolescent strength and snatched away the belt.
''She is our mother!'' Asia was in tears. ''She bore enough for twenty-five years Abbu, not anymore!'' she forced the words from her heavy throat.
Maa and her three children were now on one side of the LOC. And Abbu on the other side.
I saw him drop down astounded for he just couldn't believe that his kids raised up swords against him.
I guess he realised, what he sowed as the fruit that bloomed was not of his choice but of his orchard.

“You who believe! It is not lawful for you to inherit women by force. Nor may you treat them harshly so that
you can make off with part of what you have given them, unless they commit an act of flagrant indecency.
Live together with them correctly and courteously.
If you dislike them, it may well be that you dislike something in which ALLAH has placed a lot of good.” (4:19)

Baker And A Pious Man

A baker wanted to get to know a great Pious man in his town a little better, so he invited him to dinner. The day before, the pious man went to the bakery disguised as a beggar, picked a bread roll off the display and began to eat it. The baker saw this and tossed him out into the street.

The following day, the pious man and a disciple went to the baker’s house and were treated to a splendid banquet.

In the middle of the meal, the disciple asked, "How does one tell a good man from a bad man?"

"Just look at this baker. He is capable of spending ten gold pieces on a banquet because I am famous, but is incapable of giving a piece of bread to feed a hungry
beggar."

ALLAH does not look at faces He looks at our Hearts..

There was a man who had four sons. He wanted his sons to learn to not judge things too quickly. So he sent them each on a quest, in turn, to go and look at a pear tree that was a great distance away.

The first son went in the winter, the second in the spring, the third in summer, and the youngest son in the fall.

When they had all gone and come back, he called them together to describe what they had seen.

The first son said that the tree was ugly, bent, and twisted.

The second son said no – it was covered with green buds and full of promise.

The third son disagreed, he said it was laden with blossoms that smelled so sweet and looked so beautiful, it was the most graceful thing he had ever seen.

The last son disagreed with all of them; he said it was ripe and drooping with fruit, full of life and fulfilment.

The man then explained to his sons that they were all right, because they had each seen but one season in the tree’s life.

He told them that you cannot judge a tree, or a person, by only one season, and that the essence of who they are – and the pleasure, joy, and love that come from that life – can only be measured at the end, when all the seasons are up.

If you give up when it’s winter, you will miss the promise of your spring, the beauty of your summer, fulfilment of your fall.

Don’t judge a life by one difficult season. Don’t let the pain of one season destroy the joy of all the rest.

The Professor began his class by holding up a glass with some water in it.
He held it up for all to see & asked the students "How much do you think
this glass weighs?"
'50gms!'..... '100gms!' .....'125gms' ...the students answered.
"I really don't know unless I weigh it," said the professor, "but, my
question is:
What would happen if I held it up like this for a few minutes?"
'Nothing' ...the students said.
'Ok what would happen if I held it up like this for an hour?' the professor
asked.
'Your arm would begin to ache' said one student.
"You're right, now what would happen if I held it for a day?"
"Your arm could go numb; you might have severe muscle stress & paralysis &
have to go to hospital for sure!"
... ventured another student & all the students laughed "Very good. But during all this, did the weight of the glass change?" Asked the
professor.
'No'.. Was the answer.
"Then what caused the arm ache & the muscle stress?"
The students were puzzled.
"What should I do now to come out of pain?" asked professor again.
"Put d glass down!"said one of d students "Exactly!"said the
professor.
Life's problems are something like this.
Hold it 4 a few min in your head & dey seem OK.
Think of them for a long time & they begin to ache.
Hold it even longer & they begin to paralyze u. You will not be able to do

anything.
It's important to think of d challenges or problems in your life, Bt EVEN
MORE IMPORTANT is to 'PUT THEM DOWN' at the end of every day b4 you go
to sleep...
That way,u r nt stressed,u wake up every day fresh &strng & can
handle any issue, any challenge that comes yr way!
So,when you start your day today, Remember friend to 'PUT THE GLASS DOWN

They huddled inside the storm door - two children in ragged outgrown coats. "Any old papers, lady?" I was busy. I wanted to say no - until I looked down at their feet. Thin little sandals, sopped with sleet. "Come in and I'll make you a cup of hot cocoa." There was no conversation. Their soggy sandals left marks upon the hearthstone. I served them cocoa and toast with jam to fortify against the chill outside. Then I went back to the kitchen and started again on my household budget... The silence in the front room struck through to me. I looked in. The girl held the empty cup in her hands, looking at it. The boy asked me in a flat voice, "Lady...are you rich?" "Am I rich? Mercy, no!" I looked at my shabby slip covers. The girl put her cup back in its saucer - carefully. "Your cups match your saucers." Her voice was old, with a hunger that was not of the stomach. They left then, holding their bundles of papers against the wind. They hadn't said thank you. They didn't need to. They had done more than that. Plain blue pottery cups and saucers. But they matched. I tested the potatoes and stirred the gravy. Potatoes and brown gravy, a roof over our heads, my man with a good steady job - these things matched, too. I moved the chairs back from the fire and tidied the living room. The muddy prints of small sandals were still wet upon my hearth. I let them be. I want them there in case I ever forget again how very rich I am.

You know a person truly loves you for His sake when they remind you of Him constantly. They fear not of how you may view them, nor do they get put off from telling you, in fear of being ridiculed. They will remind you, for they would love to meet you in Jannah. They will continue to remind you, lovingly, to help you walk the straight path..

..know who your companions are, for true companions will save you from an-Naar, not dip you in it..

And remind, for indeed, the reminder benefits the believers [51:55].

Why take pride in your looks, your possessions, your wealth.. had He not willed, you'd have none of it. He created YOU for a reason. The reason is not to expolit the gifts He has blessed you with. You exist today because He wanted you to exist.. YOU had nothing to do with it..

Drop the pride. Indeed you are a traveller in this world. But a guaranteed destination for you is your grave. Thus, Drop. The. Pride. None of what you have today is because YOU willed; everything you have is because HE has willed for it to be. Your looks, your possessions and your wealth will not follow you to your grave...

Call Him before He calls you..
Pray before you are prayed upon..
Remember death before death remembers you..
Recite His words before His words are recited upon you..
Leave the worldly life before the worldly life leaves you..

Often we sympathise with the terminally ill; how do they wake every morning thinking today may be their last day? How are we any different? How do we NOT wake every morning thinking today may be OUR last day?

You have been created by the Creator, the most magnificent, the omnipotent, the greatest artist mankind has seen to date. Thus how can your outward beauty be far from beautiful? How can a creation of His be anything but perfect?

Feed not into the conception of perfection held by mankind, for indeed their definitions of perfection is filled with flaws, faults and commonness. You have been made unique, one of a kind, a beautiful sculpture that has been created, perfected and fashioned by your Lord.

Why would you want to change that? Why would you want to be something the creations want you to be? Be pleased with who you are and what you look like, for indeed, you are nothing but perfect..

Sometimes when you take a step forward, you find yourself taking ten steps back. Perhaps the step towards that path was not for you. At times, we find ourselves striving towards a particular goal; but no matter how hard we try, or which path we take, we never get there. Your destiny is pre-written. The pen has been lifted and the ink has now dried. There is no eraser. There is no way around it. What happens, happens because He has willed it; believe it is for the best.

Some view materialistic wealth as richness; others view wealth of imaan as richness..

Some view trials as difficulties, torture and punishments; others view trials as blessings..

Some view salaah as a duty; others view salaah as a means of connection..

Some view the Qur'an as a book; others view the Qur'an as words of advice, wisdom and tranquility..

Some view the prophet as a man, the seal of the Prophets; others view him (salAllaahu 'alaihi wa sallaam) as a role model, the epitome of perfection..

Some view Islaam as a religion; others view Islaam as a way of life..

We have many views when it comes to the Deen; but there is only one straight, narrow path.. and that is the path of Islaam.. May we all walk this path to His omnipotent door.. Ameen!
