At times when we are at our lowest, we need something to lift us our spirits up. I find that quotes, short stories and poems helps me lots through these process. To remind me that to count every small blessings :)In rainy days you might want a little sunshine to light your heart. In sunny days you might want a shade and cool breeze.. Just like little kind words and some motivation to get through rough days.. Something to keep you going.

Ya Rabb, bless us with the Night of Power (Lylatul-Qadr); protect from the Hellfire, and grant us Jannah (Heaven), Aameen.
Tips for making the most out of your Salah :
1) Before making your Salah, think of this : Have you ever considered the fact that you are praying to the king of kings ? That when you hear the adhan or check your prayer times, you get this
overwhelming feeling that your lord is calling you upon him?
2) Rather than considering salah as one of those long daily rituals you have to carry out because it's part of the 'deen' - why not look at it as meanginful conversation with God. A time during the day where you put all your worldly matters in the hands of God and ask him to bless you and help you. You know He can.
3) When you're praying avoid looking up at the sky or around you, no matter how fidgety you can be. This only makes you distracted and will take the worth out of your Salah. How would you like it if you are having a conversation with someone and they keep turning away ? The best way to stop this from happening, is praying in a quiet room away from all the noise and distractions of life.
4) Avoid being paranoid . By that I mean, don't overthink stuff like 'did you carry out wudhu properly' 'how many sajadah have you got left' again that will only distract you. It's also shaytaan's greatest weapons against you to make you stay away from practising the perfect prayer. So whenever you feel paranoid istaeed be Allah from the shaytan .
5) Don't recite your prayers silently and don't recite them too loud. Try to reach a medium. This will stop your thoughts from getting you confused with your recitation and also increase your concentration levels.
6) Give each letter, each movements and each duaa its moment. Just because 'allahu akbar' takes less time and less effort than the 'tashawud' doesn't mean you take it less seriously.
7) Take your time! That soap opera your watching is not going to vouch for you on judgement day. Set your priorities straight.
A practice to do during this holy month is incorperating Sunnah Salah to my daily compulsory salah. I have always wanted to do this however, life tends to get in the way and I never really got the chance. However, this Ramadan is the perfect time to make a new habit.
If you don't know what sunnah salah is, its basically the extra prayers that Prophet Muhammed PBUH used to do along with his compulsory prayers.
The Sunnah Prayers are :
Fajer : 2 extra Rak'ahs before compulsory fajr salah
Dhuhr : 4 extra Rak'ahs before compulsory dhuhr salah and 2 Rak'ahs after.
Maghrib : 2 Rak'ahs after compulsory maghrib salah
Isha : 2 Rak'ahs after compulsory isha salah and 1,3,5,7 or 9 Rak'ahs of Witr.
Let's make our Salah as perfect and as complete as possible during this Ramadan. Inshallah this will become one of the many GOOD habits that we develop this holy month.

"And when I am ill, it is He Who cures me." Al-Quran (26:80)
10 TIPS ON HOW TO CONCETRATE DURING SALAT (PRAYERS)"
1. Before standing up for Prayer, try to deal with all the minor urgent matters which demand your attention. If you are pressed by hunger, eat first; if you are pressed to attend to the call of nature, relieve yourself; if you are the parent of an infant, feed him or her, or keep him or her busy.
2. Perform your wudu’ (ablution) well, paying due care and attention.
3. Approach the Prayer with zest and passion as if it is the last prayer in your life before dying. Actually the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) taught us that we could do nothing in this world that could ever surpass Prayer in merit and excellence.
4. Visualize that in your Prayer you are going to have a special audience with ALLAH, Lord of the worlds, and that you are enjoying a direct communion with Him—which, in fact, is true.
5. Think of the Prayer you are performing as if it were the last Prayer of your life. In fact, it could very well be the last one, since no one is given a guarantee that he would live to perform another Prayer.
6. Picture the scene of the Last Day when people will be lined up into two groups, one destined for Heaven, and another for Hell, and ask yourself where you would be placed.
7. Focus your mind on what you are reading in your Prayer and recite simple suurats that you understand it's meaning and ponder on the meaning whiles u recite.
8. If, in spite of your best efforts, your mind is still wandering, seek refuge in Allah and bring your mind back to Prayer.
9. Pray to ALLAH and beg Him to grant you true the joy of concentrating in your Prayer and protection against the wanderings of your mind.
10. Place your eyesight to the one spot where you will be making your sujuud while you recite and avoid taking your eyes from that spot.
May ALLAH protect us from the tricks of shaitan during prayers and forgive us our mistakes.

Wonderful technique to introduce prayer to your child :)
Remember the story of the Prophet (saw) of when he went for al-Miraj, the night journey? Well just to give you a quick recap; on this journey, the angel Jibril took the Prophet (saw) through a series of amazing events until he reached the 7th heaven where Allah (swt) spoke to him directly. There he was also given a gift, the gift of prayer.
My mother and father gave me a gift as well. On my 7th birthday, my parents said to me, “Hisham, your birthday gift is the prayer of Maghrib. You’re a big boy now and from now on you have to pray Maghrib.” Now a normal child in today’s world would say to his parents, “Are you kidding me?” Well let me tell you why I never reacted like that.
I was exposed to such an environment from the very beginning and was told that prayer is an awesome thing to do. It was portrayed in a “cool” way to me. So obviously I was eager to pray, alhumdulillah.
After 6 months I was given yet another gift and that was of 'Ishaa. Then every 6 months I was given a gift: of Dhuhr, then of Asr and then finally of Fajr.
Both my mother and father have been very consistent and firm regarding prayer with me that no way on earth would you be able to convince them to let me off the hook for even a day. I love them for that.
But it’s every man for himself. You will be accountable for your actions individually.
This is an article written by Hisham (Dr. Farhat Hashmi's son) about how his parents introduced Salah to him.
